Post Processing Video Stabilizing Hacks

Don't you like carrying some heavy and bulky stabilizer?I'm not a professional in to this and i never planned on being one. This is more likely a hobby and fun thing to do to kill boredom. So now here are the post-processing stabilizing tools that i often use when I edit my videos. I actually have a hand-held stabilzer which is 3-way but i barely use it except I am in the right place, moment and time. Post-processing has been one of the most tiring thing to do compared to shooting videos. If you want a good raw shot to stabilizer, make sure you move less and practice on shooting steadily even without tripods or physical stabilizers. NOTE: I have never used any tripods or physical stabilizers or gimbal in most of my edits.

1. ProDad Mercailli

I often use this now after I've seen great reviews from the internet. There are two versions of Mercalli that i'm using now, V2 and V4.   You use the plugin type or the app itself and it all both it is available for different platforms. Note: I am having a trouble with the v4 plugin in Sony Vegas. It disable the video playback and sound for some weird reason.

This one is also a good shot for your money since it offers different film editing presets and effects where in Mercalli has bit less. I tried to use it and it works fine but it is a bit complex compared to other post process stabilizers.

3. Sony Stabilizer

I actually use the sony platform most of the time since it is more friendly compared to premiere. Sony stabilizer is actually good when the raw video is shot a bit more smoothly. Yes it has less control means it also does less.

4. Adobe Warp Stabilizer

This is the most pretty common post processing stabilizer that i have seen and used. It offers more control but it process slower compared to others. It is perfect for action cam and mobile users.

CONS AND PROS
1. Mercalli

Pros: It is obviously much easier to use compared to Newblues
Cons:  A bit more expensive compared to other stabilizers.

2.Newblues Stabilizer

Pros: You have more control to your video
Cons: Almost as complex as Adobe

3. Sony Stabilizer

Pros: Easier to use with less controls
                    Cons: Long render time

4. Adobe Warp Stabilizer

                   Pros: More controls and tricks
Cons: Long render time and complex

My verdict

Mercalli is the best for me after Newblues. Why? It simply has the fastest render time and it has more different axis controls compared to Sony and Adobe. Here's a friendly reminder. Don't expect a super good result when just using a post-process stabilizer, there is nothing better with the right stabilizer while matching it with some post process editing and stabilizing.
